Belleek Marks.
Various marks have been used by Belleek over the years since the pottery was founded in 1857. During 1891 the 'McKinley Act' became law In America. The purpose of this act was to ensure that any goods imported into the United States had to specify their country of origin. To comply with this, Belleek modified their First Period Mark with the inclusion of a banner in the form of a ribbon with the wording 'Co Fermanagh Ireland'. Generally Black in colour, other variations of Belleeks' second mark have included Blue and Green. Compared to the first period there are relatively fewer variations to this mark.
